Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors are experts in the care of bones, nerves, muscles, joints, and ligaments. All of these elements work together as one unit to make up who we are. When we hurt, our body does not function like a well-oiled machine - as a result we compensate by limping and causing other areas to hurt. Since its beginning, chiropractic has been based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls the function of every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body.

Massage

Massage

Research and experience show that massage is a safe and effective treatment that can help you heal and prevent further injury. Massage is well known to knead away tension and relieve pain in muscles that are injured or in spasm. It also relieves discomfort in surrounding areas that may be tightening up or "guarding" in response to pain. Massage improves circulation, increasing the flow of oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. This helps reduce swelling and accumulated toxins that can cause irritation.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve functioning. This is done by inserting tiny needles and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points. The classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up in others.

Laser

Laser Therapy

K-Laser, a state-of-the-art, Class IV laser therapy, has been found to penetrate tissue and initiate healing on a cellular level, even allowing some patients to return to normal, everyday activities with little to no pain. K-Laser, also known as High Power Laser Therapy, targets damaged tissue with specific wavelengths of light that have been found to interact with tissue and accelerate the healing process.

Chiropractors are experts in the care of bones, nerves, muscles, joints, and ligaments. All these elements work together as one unit to make up who we are. When we hurt, our body does not function like a well-oiled machine - as a result we compensate by limping and causing other areas to hurt.

At your first appointment we provide a thorough exam and go over your history. If necessary, we will provide x-rays at our facility. Conditions chiropractors treat range from headaches (migraine to tension), neck pain, stiffness, back pain, sciatica, pinched nerves, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, extremity pain (hip, shoulder, elbow, knees, wrist, ankles, etc.), short leg, muscle ache, and many other conditions.

After a thorough examination and a review of your health history, your chiropractor will recommend a specific care program. This will include specific spinal adjustments – the use of carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore spinal bones to a more normal position or motion. When spinal function is improved, nervous system function (health) can improve too. After years of training, chiropractors become experts at using the right amount of force in the right direction. This may require a quick movement or a slow and constant pressure. Some patients would rather not have a manual adjustment. All our chiropractors are trained in various techniques including the use of an activator, decompression, or drop tables.

Ask your chiropractor for more information about a care program that may include specific spinal adjustments, exercise recommendations, nutritional advice, or other conservative methods of care based on your health history, age, current condition, and lifestyle.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and find out if we can help you!

Massage for Your Health

Stress
Massage therapy is one of the best antidotes for stress providing more energy, improved outlook and reduction in injury and illness. Massage can also relieve the symptoms and conditions aggravated by stress, such as asthma or insomnia and provides excellent support for people in counseling.

Tight and Painful Muscles
Massage stretches and kneads away muscle tension relieving everything from short term muscle cramps to a habitually clenched jaw or tight shoulders. In addition massage works gently on the nervous system, relaxing the muscles throughout your body.

Injuries
Massage assists in the healing of injuries such as tendinitis, ligament sprains, or muscle strains. Massage therapy reduces swelling and inflammation by assisting the body in removing waste and providing nutrition to injured cells. In addition, massage has been found to be useful in making old scar tissue pliable and reducing its formation in new injuries.

Injury Prevention
By relieving chronic tension, massage can help prevent injuries that otherwise would be caused by unbalanced muscle groups or by the forced stretching of tight painful areas.

Pain or Restriction in Joints
Massage releases tight muscles that restrict joint movement which increases circulation to the joints. This improves the general health of the joint and it’s natural lubrication, reducing pain and discomfort.

Postural Problems
Massage releases restrictions in muscles, joints, and surrounding connective tissue (fascia). This frees your body to return to a more natural posture. Massage is also used to relieve the contracted muscles and pain caused by abnormal spinal curvatures such scoliosis.

Back Pain
Our modern lifestyle is frequently the culprit in back pain. Long hours of sitting at work, home, or in cars can lead to an imbalance between weak muscles and those that are chronically contracted. On top of that, tension and fatigue in back muscles are often aggravated by the stress of a busy, demanding life. Tight, weak, or tired back muscles are vulnerable to injury any time you overdo it. Sometimes it doesn't take much. A sudden jerk or mild twist can cause lingering pain. Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.

Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function. This is done by inserting needles and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points.

The classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up in others.

The meridians can be influenced by needling the acupuncture points; the acupuncture needles unblock the obstructions at the dams and reestablish the regular flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments help the body's internal organs correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production; as well as improve the circulation of energy through the meridians.

The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system.

Moon Gi Han provides acupuncture to patients at Mountain View Chiropractic & Wellness Center.

The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Laser Info

K-Laser, a state-of-the-art, Class IV laser therapy, has been found to penetrate tissue and initiate healing on a cellular level, even allowing some patients to return to normal, everyday activities with little to no pain.

K-Laser, also known as High Power Laser Therapy, targets damaged tissue with specific wavelengths of light that have been found to interact with tissue and accelerate the healing process.

Much like photosynthesis in plants, light energy passes through the skin, into the cell membrane, initiating a process called photobiostimulation. This process enhances the body’s natural regenerative functions, as well as stimulating the release of endorphins and collagen. It may eventually even normalize damaged or injured tissue.

The result? Accelerated wound healing, as well as reduced pain, stiffness, swelling, and spasms. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored, so patients may take their life back and resume their favorite hobbies and activities.

Conditions Treated With K-Laser

High power laser therapy can stimulate all cell types, including soft tissue, ligaments, cartilage, and nerves. Some conditions that have been shown to respond well to K-Laser include:

  • Peripheral Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia
  • Back and Neck Pain
  • Sciatic Pain
  • Arthritis pain, Degenerative Discs/Joints
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Knee Problems
  • Tendinitis, Trigger Fingers
  • Bunion Pains, Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sprains and/or Strains
  • Bruises, Contusions, Burns
  • Headaches, TMJ, Sinus Trouble

Orthotics

Each foot has 26 bones, along with ligaments, tendons, and muscles working together to absorb impact and propel you forward. A slight misalignment can lead to foot pain, ankle sprains, bunions, and knee, hip, or back pain. Using orthotics consistently hold your feet in their correct position, reducing improper rotation and pressure that can cause issues throughout your body.

With digital technology, we can take extremely accurate three-dimensional scans of your feet, both while stationary and in motion for gait analysis, to determine exactly what type of correction is needed in your foot-bed. Dynamic motion analysis, foot pressure analysis, and weight distribution data is then used to create custom orthotics which are more accurate and efficient than those created through plaster casting.

The corrective insert is a fully custom shaped medical orthotic designed to work seamlessly with any product on the market - providing optimal comfort and the correct fit!

Decompression

Decompression is a gentle, non-surgical, chiropractic spinal manipulation adjustment procedure. 95% of back and neck pain patients do not require surgery. Decompression is a safer alternative to back surgery. It is also appropriate for failed back surgery patients who still suffer after surgery.

Decompression is a well-researched, well-referenced chiropractic spinal adjusting manipulation. Decompression relieves back, leg, neck, and arm pain. Disc herniation, arthritis, or back sprains are usually the cause of pain.

Decompression drops disc pressures and increases the disc space. It stops pain, realigns the spine, and restores ranges of motion. It is an accepted and widely used form of spinal manipulation.
